Mac Lee, PhD

About me

I recently graduated from the University of California, San Diego, with a PhD in Physics specializing in physical oceanography. My research interests are centered on geophysical fluid dynamics, nonlinear systems, and machine learning. My PhD work involved analytical and numerical studies of submesoscale ocean dynamics in the mid-latitudes. Beyond physical oceanography, I have a background in condensed matter theory and was a classically trained pianist prior to my scientific career.

I am a co-maintainer of FastVideo, a unified inference and post-training framework that aims to accelerate video generation. My Rust package atree is used by C2PA and has been downloaded over 9.5 million times as of June 2026.
